St. James Crucifix

Sacred Heart Parish is part of the Diocese of Phoenix, but has been administered by the Claretian Missionaries of the Immaculate Heart of Mary since 1915. In addition to many talented lay persons, we are also blessed to have two sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), United States Province, who very generously serve our parish.

Fr. Art Gramaje, CMFEmail Fr. Art or call him at the Church office at (928) 445-3141

Fr. Art has been pastor of Sacred Heart Parish since August 15, 2009, joining our family on the Feast of the Assumption.

Fr. Art has also taken to heart Pope Benedict XVI's invitation to the world's priests on World Communications Day 2010 to use digital media in their ministry.

"Thanks to the new media, those involved in preaching and catechizing can now reach individuals and entire communities on every continent using words, sounds and images, it said." (Read more...)

In that spirit, Fr. Art can now be found on Facebook, spreading the Good News of Jesus.

Fr. Daryl Olds, CMF - Associate

Fr. Daryl Olds, CMF

Email Fr. Daryl or call him at the Church office at (928) 445-3141

1. Who is your Patron/Confirmation Saint & why?
My Confirmation Saint is St. Anthony Claret, not only because he is the founder of my religious family, but because of his passion for sharing the Word of God with everyone. His whole life as a priest was dedicated to this.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse(s) and/or "Saintly" quote and why?
My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 15:16, “I devoured Your words when they came. They were my happiness and I felt full of joy when You made Your name rest upon me.” I love this verse because it expresses the joy I feel when I dive into the Scriptures and explore them to their depths. That joy is even greater when I get to share what I have found with others when I proclaim the Word at Mass.

3. What is your favorite hymn(s)/Christian song(s) and why?
My favorite hymn is “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” I love the story of Thomas Dorsey, and how it came to be that he wrote this hymn -YouTube logo Click to hear the story of why Thomas Dorsey wrote this hymn. - When I am sad and feel lost this hymn has always given me great comfort. It speaks to my heart when I am hurting.
You Tube Logo
Watch Dr. Dorsey, himself, sing his hymn. This was also Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s favorite hymn.

4. Give one (of many!) reason why you enjoy Sacred Heart Parish.
The main reason why I love being at Sacred Heart is the people that I get to serve and work with here. Over the years they have humbled me with their love and inspired me with their faith. God touches me with His Grace through them dozens of times each day from the children in the school to the elderly in the rest homes. I especially appreciate the staff and volunteers who I get to work with, they make my ministry here at Sacred Heart a pure joy.
