Every year the students of Sacred Heart Catholic School collect cans of food for the poor. On a nice Fall day, we close down the street and all the students form a line that leads from the school gym across the street to St Vincent de Paul.
They then begin to pass the cans, hand to hand, all the way out the door, down the steps, around the buildings, and right up to the door of the St Vincent de Paul pantry. The cans are sorted and then placed onto the shelves.
St Vincent de Paul is preparing for their annual Christmas food box distribution and Christmas Party. They will serve turkey dinners (complete with all the fixings) to about 250 families this year, and that takes a lot of food!
A big Thank You to the families and students of Sacred Heart Catholic School!
